WEBSITES

Your website has one job

A local business website is not a brochure. It exists to turn a visitor into a call, a booking, or a quote request. Here is what that looks like in practice.

BY AKASH KAPRUWAN

Most small business websites look fine and do nothing. They have an about page, a photo gallery, a contact form buried at the bottom, and no clear reason for a visitor to pick up the phone.

A local business website has one job: turn the person who lands on it into a call, a booking, or a quote request. Everything on the page either helps with that or gets in the way.

Say what you do and where, on the first screen

A visitor decides in seconds whether they are in the right place. The first thing they see should answer two questions: what do you do, and do you do it near me. "Emergency plumbing in north Dallas" beats "Quality you can trust" every time.

Make the next step obvious

  • A tap-to-call button that stays visible on a phone
  • A booking or quote form that asks only what you need to get back to them
  • The same call to action repeated down the page, so nobody has to scroll back up to find it

One page per service

Someone searching for "water heater replacement" wants a page about water heater replacement, not a list of twelve services. A page for each service gives Google something specific to rank, and gives the visitor a page that matches what they searched for.

Fast on a phone

Most local searches happen on a phone, often in a hurry. A site that is slow to load loses people before they read a word. Speed is not a technical detail. It is part of the sales pitch.

Put the proof where the decision happens

Reviews, photos of real work, and the areas you serve belong next to the call to action, not on a separate page nobody opens.

Then connect it to everything else

A good site is one part of a system. It needs a Google profile sending people to it, reviews that convince them, and something that answers when they reach out at 11pm. That is why every site I build through Local Cascade ships with the rest of the system around it.
